Prior to creating BoomContacts, it would take us 5 minutes to prepare a quote in our EHR.  We have a small shop, one optometric tech and one optometrist.  None of the rebates were listed, we didn't have any discounts for annual purchases, and generally people were happy to purchase from other sellers.  I would say we were unique, but if we were unique, 1800contacts would be out of business.

In 2016 we created BoomContacts.com and our sales exploded.  The first month we hit nearly tripled sales from the previous month.  The doctors could now show the patients the prices prior to trialing (preventing price shock issues) and the sales people could now display the patient's final price.

In 2017 we added a .PDF rebate receipt attachment, making the patient's rebate process easier than ever.  And the good news is we are planning a major update in 2018 - including auto refills of expiring orders, online patient payments, and text based ordering system.

What is your closing rate for contact lenses?  Don't be scared if you aren't sure, it's easy to calculate.  Just look at your last 100 contact lens patients.  How many purchased contacts from you?

If the number is less than 70, you've got room to grow according to industry studies.  Those patients that don't purchase contacts from you, that walkout, we call that your "walkout rate".  So if you have a closing rate of 60, your walkout rate is 100-60 = 40.  The key is getting as many of those walkouts as you can back.  And that's what our app does through emails and texts, it "recaptures" the sale.  Thus, we call it the recapture rate.

So of that 40, which represents 40 out of 100 patients, 40%, that walked out, what if you could get 5% of those back (so 40% x 5% = .40 x .05 = .02 = 2%).  it's small but those 2% more sales mean a massive amount of growth for your business.  And it's only one piece of the puzzle.  BoomContacts helps you get those patients back to you with several simple tools within our main app, Compare.
